📦 Backups & Recovery in Snapshot

Once your store is connected, our system safeguards your data by creating regular backups. You can choose automatic schedules or run backups manually—either immediately or at a time you specify.

🔁 1. Automatic Backups

Once your store is connected, Snapshot runs backups automatically based on the frequency you choose:

  • Daily: One backup every 24 hours.

  • Twice Daily: Two backups per day (e.g., 00:00 and 12:00).

These run silently in the background—no action needed. Your product data, variants, and inventory quantities are always backed up and ready to restore.

To adjust your automatic backup schedule:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Settings.

  2. Choose your preferred frequency: Daily, Twice Daily, or Monthly.

  3. Click Save to apply the changes.

⚡ 2. Manual Backups

Need a backup right before making major changes? You can create one any time:

To trigger a manual backup:

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard.

  2. Click Start Backup.

  3. Choose an option:

    • Run Now: Starts the backup immediately.

    • Schedule for Later: Opens a date-and-time picker to set a future backup.

Once queued, your backup will run as scheduled. You’ll be notified when it’s complete.

📚 3. Viewing Backup History

Easily access your past backups to audit changes or prepare a restoration.

To view your backup history:

  1. Go to the Dashboard.

  2. Scroll through the list of backups, organized by date, time, and type (Automatic or Manual).

  3. Click a backup to view detailed contents:

    • Products

    • Variants

    • Location-based inventory

    • Restore options

🕒 4. Product Version History

In addition to full catalog backups, Snapshot automatically tracks changes to individual products over time.

Every time a product is created, updated, or deleted, a new version is recorded. This allows you to view how a product has changed and restore a specific version when needed.

What is tracked

Each product version includes:

  • Product title and description

  • Variants (price, SKU, options)

  • Inventory quantities per location

  • Metadata and attributes

  • Status (active, draft, archived)

How it works

  • Version tracking runs automatically in the background

  • No configuration is required

  • Each change creates a new version entry

Viewing Product Versions

To view version history for a product:

  1. Go to the products page

  2. Select a product

  3. Navigate to the Version History section

You will see a timeline of changes, including when the change happened and what was modified.

Restoring a Product Version

To restore a specific version:

  1. Open the product inside a backup

  2. Select the version you want

  3. Click Restore Version

  4. Confirm your selection

A new copy of the product will be created using the selected version.

💡 Tip: Use version history to safely undo small mistakes without restoring an entire backup.

♻️ 5. Restoring Products from a Backup

Restore individual products from any backup in just a few clicks.

To restore a product:

  1. In your Backups List, locate the backup you want.

  2. Click to open it, then select the product to restore.

  3. Click Recover, then confirm your selection.

A copy of the product will be created in your Shopify store. By default, the restored product will be unpublished, so you can review or edit it before making it public.

💡 Tip: Keep at least two recent backups available. This gives you a reliable safety net against data issues or accidental edits.
